PERRY METHODIST CHURCH

Perry Methodist Church is where we come together as Christian Brothers and Sisters to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and fellowship with each other in his name.

Since 1872, Perry Methodist Church has ministered to many generations of families and friends. This is more than 150 years! We have seen many changes during this time from the introduction of electricity, indoor plumbing, automobiles, and the internet. We have seen times like WWI, the Great Depression, WW2, and COVID. We have celebrated wondrous events like the reformation of the State of Israel, the Fall of the Berlin Wall, and the Landing on the Moon. Throughout all of this the changes just keep coming faster and they seem to be overwhelming to us more everyday.

Do we know all of the answers to life and its mysteries? No, we actively seek Jesus and his plan for our lives. We do this both individually and as a church body.

Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." "Matt 11:28-30.

What is a "yoke"? It is a wooden beam used between a pair of oxen or other animals to enable them to pull together on a heavy load when working in pairs, i.e. when pulling a plow or wagon. It is usually fitted to the individual animal and its design may change depending upon the task being performed.

What is "rest"? It is peace, ease, or refreshment.

So, once we chose to take his yoke upon ourselves, Jesus teams up with us in our lives and will help us with our worries and burdens and give us rest and peace.

The Apostle Paul said, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7.

So, join us as we celebrate the loving salvation of Jesus Christ by teaming up with him and seeking to learn his will and his way in our lives.
